Ulster County is the primary area of focus for the services that our office provides. It’s where our office is located, as well where all of our staff resides. It’s our home and we know it well.
In terms of where Ulster County is, in relationship to the New York Metropolitan area and other points in the region, we are about 90 minutes north of Manhattan, an hour south of Albany and 3.5 hours from both Boston and Philadelphia. The County sits in the heart of the fertile Hudson River Valley with the Hudson River on its eastern edge. Within its 1,161 square miles lies the Catskill Park and Forest Preserve where there are more than ¼ million acres of forever-wild woodlands encompassing 35 peaks and 350 miles of hiking trails.
From biking to hiking, from kayaking to wind surfing, from hitting the sweet spot on one of our 12 golf courses to horseback riding and fly-fishing, Ulster County is truly a four-season recreation area. Moreover, if all you want is to stroll along a back lane and view the fall colors we have rural vistas, which, well, will just knock your socks off. The winter provides great downhill and cross-country skiing, cozy lodges, ice skating and more.
While Ulster County is best known for its pristine landscapes, fast streams and lush views, it is also the center for arts and culture in the Hudson River Valley. From the spectacular artscape of Opus 40 to galleries and outdoor theatre, Ulster County has been home to the creative arts for more than 100 years. Music, of course, has been with us with the Woodstock concerts, live performances at the Ulster Performing Arts Center as well as the arts and crafts fairs in New Paltz and the growing antique center in Saugerties, where paintings, furniture, and artifacts abound. Whether you are looking for rare photographs or a film festival or want to browse the museum in the Old Senate House or the Hudson River Maritime Museum, Ulster County has a venue that will captivate your entire family.
