Atwood was known for the Brown’s Tavern & Inn (corner of Atwood Rd. & Tongore), a place where all the political people used to meet. The bartender was noted for his tenure at the tavern, which spanned a period of time long enough to be written about in Ripley’s Believe it or Not.
