Saugerties is 200 year old town nestled in between the foothills of the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson River. It is uniquely located where the Plattekill and Esopus Creeks meet the Hudson River. Many of the forests in this area were once blue stone quarries – the famed stone that lines the sidewalks of Saugerties village, and in cities like New York, Philadelphia, and Boston. The Village of Saugerties is on the National Register of Historic Place and it has buildings from a variety of periods, providing a wealth of historical association from the 19th century. Some popular spots to visit here are Opus 40, the Saugerties Lighthouse, and Falling Waters Preserve.
