The hamlet of Clintondale got its start with a church, a general store, a blacksmith shop, wagon shop, and about 20 other dwellings around the year 1800. Its location is tucked away in a little pocket of Ulster County that is actually easy to get to – being just minutes from Poughkeepsie, Gardiner, and New Paltz. A number of long time operating apple orchards (dating back to the 1800’s) along with other farming pursuits are located here. You’ll also find an interesting array of housing ranging from farms to houses of all types that have unique features such as ponds and nice views of the Shawangunk’s. There are some good restaurants and popular B&B’s too.
