Big Indian

dashville in the summer

Is a Hamlet situated along the Esopus Creek that is known as Big Indian Hollow. Years ago It was a station stop on the former Ulster and Delaware Railroad where one would find a small hotel, a saw mill, a couple of charcoal kiln’s, and a tannery. Today Big Indian continues to be that beautiful tiny Catskills hamlet however people go here for different reasons – namely the plethora of outdoor enjoyment. Nearby are Pine Hill Lake and a number of beaver ponds for swimming, many trails for hiking, and the Panther Mountain Forest Preserve, which has one of the largest asteroid impact craters in the world.
