Barclay Heights

esopus creek

The hamlet of Barclay Heights lies just south of the Village of Saugerties in between the Esopus Creek and the Hudson River. The Town got its name from one of the pioneering families who settled here in the early 1800’s. The family’s patriarch, Henry Barclay, was an importer from Manhattan, who also operated businesses in the Hudson Valley, which produced bar and hoop iron, and a paper mill.
